Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic health, which is more commonly known as pelvic floor therapy, is a specialty area of rehab that can be offered by occupational and physical therapists with advanced training. All pelvic floor therapists receive extensive continuing education after completing their graduate program to be skilled in this area and even within pelvic health, there are many subspecialites.

At Maternity Guru, we specialize exclusively in pelvic health for pregnant and postpartum individuals. This means that aside from our general pelvic health education, we have additional training to address the unique characteristics of the pregnant and postpartum body as well as a thorough understanding of the musculoskeletal, hormonal and emotional changes that occur during the perinatal period.

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles and tissues that create a "bowl" at the bottom of the pelvis and are responsible for many functions including peeing/pooping, supporting our organs and helping with our balance. Many other muscles and organ systems affect the pelvic floor and for this reason we take a holistic, whole-body approach to addressing your pelvic health concerns
